NATURE PHOTOS
What is nature? I guess its the stuff humans didn't make right? Definitions are weird.
Florida, 2023
Recently I had the thought that if I were to travel this year I'd like it to be throughout Florida, my home state. She won't be above water for much longer. In my past I still enjoyed nature, but the focus wasn't so much on the biodiversity of these places. There was simply a superficial acknowledgement of how 'beautiful' everything was. Now I am much more interested in studying the green parts of our world that we glaze over when in an urban mindset. Learning the specifics of what is meant to thrive around us and how they evolved to be there, while staying conscious to the fact that our species is radically destroying the world's ecological communities, is what's top of mind now.

Nice road trip ending with a goodbye to my longest known friend. But not a finality. In fact these few days were not just an introduction to a city, but a beginning of new relationships. For my brother, and I.
North Lake Nature Center and City Park are where most of these photos were taken. The sculpture garden was specifically intriguing. I can't recall ever being stopped by a sculpture before, but something about this day nudged me toward more appreciation for the art form.
I feel like I need to learn way more about this camera. I want another chance to photograph NO, LA.

Walking the L.A beaches during the beginning of Spring was a refreshing activity. The multi day trip was mostly spent in car rides looking out through glass at places that used to look beautiful, before the construction, before the billboards, before the luxury store fronts. Even the beaches felt manicured, but upon further thought that was just due to the natural smoothness of the coast.

Sometimes you don't have to wait till after an experience to realize how special it is. During this trip, with the people I love the most, it was clear that the memory of these few days would never leave me. It would be something I'll catch myself thinking about every so often, and it has been. The urge to return is incredibly strong. Even stronger is the wish to walk up to Soberanes Point again and spend the day up there.
